This Dustless Sander has a patented foam backed sanding pad, variable speed 1,000 - 1,650 RPM, 3.5 AMP motor, and hooks to a regular shop vac or Porter Cable #7812. Comes with a 13' hose. 110 Volt
Purchased this sander to remove the dated ugly popcorn (AKA spackle, spray-on, acoustic, textured etc.)ceiling in my home. The sander worked great and I was able to remove about 100 sqft per half-hour - had 3300 sqft to remove in total so the traditional method of wetting the surface and scraping was not an option. I recommend using an 80 grit sand paper for the initial removal and follow-up with a 100 grit to finish the surface for painting. I will admit, after doing about 400 sqft my shoulder were starting to hurt so I spaced the project over a couple of days.I also recommend the investment in a long vacuum hose (35 to 40 feet) such as the optional orange plastic type that can be purchased for your central vacuum and is designed for garage use. In my case I used the longer hose and placed the vacuum outside the house. Generally speaking, my shop vacuum needed to have the filter cleaned after completing approximately 100 sqft. I would also suggest using a cheeze cloth bag to serve as a pre-filter to reduce the amount of dust collected on the main filter. Using an ultra-fine vacuum filter will only plug-up too quickly, so it is better to use a regular dust collection filter. [...]
